Thinking about Victor Higgins a bit today. I picked up a book from the library that covers his work. There was even a brief special on KNME about his work. I love his stuff. There is so much to learn. This is a rough sketch. I just need to keep up the drawing. Using Kyle’s […]
San Jose de Garcia Church
Las Trampas is a town that sits along the scenic highway (NM 76) between Taos and Santa Fe. It was founded in 1751 by 12 families who flourished for a while in the isolation of the area. The San Jose de Garcia church was built around 1760. This was done with Photoshop and a new […]
Another day with the portrait group. We meet at Ray Vinella’s place. It is a nice group to spend a few hours with. Our model had a difficult morning but performed like a trooper. She was rock steady and was a pleasure to paint. Her mother is also a painter and stopped over to visit […]
Taos Portrait Artists Meet
Finally got myself back to the Taos Portraits Artists group. It was a full house. Lots of new faces! We also had a great model, Sophie, from Taos Ski Valley. Actually, she just works at the ski valley.
Spent a little time sketching in the afternoon. It was a dark day and I decided to just paint something. I had done some dishes and they looked very nice sitting there drying. Almost everything was white or a bit off white. I fired up the old Procreate app on the iPad and went to […]
It is a winter white morning. Things are dark outside and I can just see a trace of snow. My phone lights up with a text message letting me know that school/work will be delayed until 10. Great! There is time for a bit of exercise and maybe some painting before I have to be […]
Still Life Sketch
Today I wanted to do something with a little color. So I threw in my wonderful orange mug! Yesterday I sketched something that went pretty grey. That was mainly because it was a grey day and I was thinking of actually sketching it in B/W. Today I wanted to play with light a little.
Back at the Taos Portrait Society
Finally had an opportunity to return to the portrait society painting group on Saturday. It was a Ray Vinella’s studio in Taos. It was great to meet him for a moment. The subject was Mae Won. She was amazingly beautiful.
Rose Leon visits
A friend of mine stopped over. Rose Leon is such a calm, sweet, and positive person. Hopefully you get a bit of a sense of that from the drawing. It was a quick thing done on the iPad.
This is just a quick look at a truck that really wowed me while it sat in a parking lot during sunset.
Under a Rug
What happens when I crawl under a rug? Well, next I will be crawling under some paper and other things. Cardboard boxes and vector graphics – here I come.
The UNM Taos library has had some great people to work with. Santana is one of them. I felt I needed to push something out before bed. I had a photo of Santana and put it up on my computer screen to sketch. This is just another iPad squiggle fest.
