Denver Museum and Taos Artists

Posted on July 3, 2017

I visited the new Denver Art Museum last month. I have meant to visit since the day it opened. It is a pretty nice space, but the people and programming of the shows make it an engaging place to visit. For the summer, the big show is “The Western”. A sprawling show that covers the cinematic vision of the western experience. A clearly presented portrait of the constructed narrative that many hold dear. The broad strokes of the show are presented through paintings, photographs, movies and pop culture artifacts. I will probably cover the show in a future post.

For now, I just want to focus on the paintings that are presented where the old and new buildings that comprise the museum are linked. There was a nice showing of several Taos artists.

I always love catching a glimpse of this stuff in person. Maybe I should write more about it. Maybe not. Just have a look.
